About Us
Our Story
Being a relatively new company, much of our story is yet to be written so consider this more as a preamble if you will...
Zahra Food Industries Ltd is a young food processing company but is born ambitious. We are one of the only ISO Food Safety Management System (FSMS 22000:2018) certified company in Uganda operating out of an ultra modern, first of it's kind facility on the African continent right at the heartland where the sweetest and the tastiest produce is grown. Nature's best tasting produce is also the healthiest which is why we have made it our mission to spread nature's love!Â
Uganda remains the number one fruit producing nation in Africa. Lake Victoria and the Nile River, which cuts through the heart of the country, combine to create one of the most fecund areas in Africa. Most of Uganda is a blizzard of greens, a lush landscape of rolling hills blanketed with fertile fields, where almost everything will grow. The tropical heat is tempered by the altitude, which averages more than 1,000m in much of the country. The country is suitable and has abundant potential to produce mangoes, pineapples, avocados, tomatoes and a host of other fruits, vegetables, herbs, nuts and seeds. The fertile soils and conducive climate guarantee production for the greater part of the year, in fact Uganda is uniquely known to yield multiple harvest seasons in a single year ensuring ample supply.Â
Every aspect of our processing facility has been designed to be food-compliant, efficient and innovative. Our diversified value-addition capabilities not only enable us to offer a wide portfolio of products but it also transcends into sustainable growth opportunities for both our company and for entire communities. Through our partnership with Proteen, the organic food waste that we produce is repurposed into sustainable feed & fertiliser through a circular recycling process (learn more).
For our dried fruit range, we only use state-of-the-art European and American manufactured dehydrators for the highest drying precision delivering an unparalleled consistency in quality and thereby setting a new standard for the modern food processing industry. We pride ourselves on making sure that the dried fruits taste as delicious and look as natural as the perfectly ripened fruit without any added sugars, preservatives, additives, colorings or flavorings. This is possible through our advanced production processes that maximise the retention of the organoleptic values of every fruit. The entire range of the Blossomz dried fruit range is UNBS Q-Mark certified.
Eostre healing teas are developed by a qualified Naturopathic Physician and a Master Herbalist to promote holistic health and wellbeing. The range is available in four variants of Balance, Digest, Bright & Happy and Stay Well, each developed with a unique blend of African herbs and fruits that are well known for it's health properties. All the ingredients are grown, picked and processed under the strictest quality control standards of Organic and Demeter farming.
Our range of fresh produce for export include pineapples, mangoes, avocados, passion fruits, bananas, papayas and everything else that the Ugandan soil has to offer. Each of these are hand picked at the precise maturity level to ensure a continuation of the ripening process. Within hours of being harvested, our produce is carefully graded, tested, prepared and packaged so that it arrives just right even after it's journey half way around the world!Â
Nuts and seeds are nutritional powerhouses known to be a good source of protein and lately gaining popularity as a healthy snack. Our range of nuts and seeds include cashew nuts, macadamia, peanuts and chia seeds. We have recently expanded our range to include high quality Ugandan vanilla which is meticulously grown on the fertile soils in remote parts of the country and rigorously dried under the tropical sun.
Our newest innovation of plant based dried jackfruit fibres are a healthy & completely vegan replacement to meat in any recipe. The jackfruits are hand-selected at a young age from ancestral trees across Uganda, the fibres from these jackfruits have a meat-like texture that easily absorb flavors making it an ideal meat substitute. The dried form makes it environmentally friendly to ship anywhere around the world.
Blossomz Revive breakfast bars are made from 100% natural breakfast ingredients like cereals, tropical fruits, nuts and honey with more than 50% uniquely sourced from refugee communities in Uganda. Every bite not only rises to the occasion of the most important meal of the day as it restores essential nutrients for the body and mind, it also cements solidarity with the refugee communities in regaining their economic independence.

The meaning of our company name, Zahra is 'blossom' in the local origin of its name and therefore very passionately we market our range of dried and fresh produce under the 'Blossomz' brand name.
